Jadon's Surgery

Just received great news from Jadon's father that his surgery went good. It was a long and difficult procedure, but all is well.

We first met Jadon and his family at Scottish Rite several months ago. They just heard about Dr. Paley around that time and they did not waste any time getting their son treated.

We were amazed when I saw his email and that Jadon was already doing physical therapy.

We also hope that we will be seeing them soon when we make it down there. Jason (Jadon's father) is trying to get a transfer down there so they can be close to Dr. Paley.

He will be sending pictures soon after the surgery, so looking forward to that.

Research

We've done research on housing, flights and car seats and found that the pricing is very expensive. For that reason, I started the E-Rod's Angels blog. We know families that are struggling with the news that their child might need limb lengthening or super hip surgery or just finding out that their child has PFFD. A group of us have managed to keep in touch via email and share our thoughts. We try to meet at least once a month to bounce ideas, share our fears and give each other moral support. I find that having them has helped us in way that you can't even imagine. Not only do I have families feeling the same emotional roller coaster but our kids grow up knowing that they are not alone.

Ethan's Surgery

Ethan is scheduled to have his surgery in May. We are not sure if Ethan will have Super Hip 1 or 2 but whatever it might be we are ready. He is scheduled to have an MRI on Wednesday the 18th. Dr. Paley will look over the MRI and decide on the surgical procedure. Ethan's femur is bending causing it to stick out at a 90% angle. His right leg is about 4 inches shorter than his left leg. He has been seen at Scottish Rite for orthotics and has been evaluated by 2 of the surgeons. The last time we met with the surgeons was last summer . They informed us that no decisions was to be made but our options for the future would be limb lengthening, amputation, rotating of the leg from the knee to use the foot as a knee or nothing. You can imagine that hearing any of those options had us wanting to run out of the evaluation room as fast as we could. Eddie (my husband) was so upset. "They are not going to amputate...they are crazy if they think I will allow that..." That day we went home and researched our options. Of course we decided to see Dr. Paley as soon as possible and here we are today!
The news clip below was shown on Florida's FOX news this week about Dr Paley helping a little girl, Eva, with the same condition as Ethan. We were very excited to see that she looked happy!!! Eva is our super star!!!
